Budget & Credit Counseling

You should schedule a Budget and Credit Counseling session if you need help clearing up credit issues, creating a savings plan, budgeting, or addressing other financial concerns. Before scheduling an appointment for Budget and Credit Counseling, you are encouraged to attend the free “Build Your Credit” Workshop offered each month.

Pre-Purchase Housing Counseling

If you are a prospective homebuyer, you should schedule a free Pre-Purchase Counseling session. If you are interested in buying a home and would like to find out your potential price range in addition to what assistance programs may be available to help make your home purchase more affordable, call us today.

A certified counselor will review your credit and savings situations and discuss home buying options. Clients are encouraged to attend RADA’s free Homebuyer Education Workshop prior to scheduling an appointment with a counselor for Pre-Purchase Counseling.

Fair Housing Counseling

Renters, homebuyers or homeowners should call and schedule an appointment with a RADA counselor to discuss fair housing issues if you feel you have been a victim of discriminatory action from a landlord or any housing provider. You should also contact RADA if you feel victimized by any predatory practice.

Post-Purchase Housing Counseling

You should schedule an appointment if you are a current homeowner and need the facts about your mortgage, property taxes, Homeowner’s Insurance, transferring or selling your property, financial planning, developing a savings plan, budgeting step-by-step, avoiding predatory lending, using home equity, doing maintenance and repairs, making home improvements, and working with a contractor. Several housing related issues are reviewed by a RADA counselor and each session makes you, the homeowner, aware of your options.

Default/Delinquency Foreclosure Counseling

Clients should schedule a Default/Delinquency Counseling session if they need assistance in resolving problems which led to delinquency and possible prevention to foreclosure. A counselor will assist them in resolving problems, prepare a financial analysis, explain their options, and assist with contacting their servicer or mortgage company.

Homebuyer Education Workshops

RADA offers free Homebuyer Education classes monthly in order to prepare you for homeownership. Homebuyer Education can be obtained in either a classroom setting or by attending 3 or more one-on-one individual counseling sessions with a RADA certified counselor. Upon mastery of the course, the borrower will receive a completion certificate.

*A First Time Homebuyer is a borrower who has not had a present ownership interest in a principal resident at anytime during the last 3 years.

Rental Counseling

Clients should schedule an appointment prior to renting because they have the right to know the implications of the lease they are going to sign. Such items to be discussed include:

  • what must the landlord disclose
  • building inspections
  • police records
  • utility disclosure information, and
  • preparing to rent

IDA Program

Clients are encouraged to participate in our Individual Development Account (IDA) Program. These are savings accounts that can be used for purchasing a first home. Accounts are held at a local financial institution and RADA will match 2:1 for an amount that an individual saves up to $1,000.00. For example, if a client deposits $1,000.00 over a six month period or longer, RADA will match their funds in the amount of $2,000.00. Therefore, the homebuyer would have $3,000.00 total to be used toward their closing costs. Funds are limited and this program is a first come/first basis transaction.
